Recently PopDust, a celebrity gossip site, decided to rank the Top Ten Sexiest couples in Entertainment. Now, in the pop world "sexiest" is a synonymous with "most powerful". Shockingly, the list skewed a bit young at the end, choosing Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, when the clear power couple stood at number two - Jay Z and Beyonce.
Not only is it a little less creepy to look at images of Jay Z and Beyonce smooching on the beach, but as a matter of timing, Jay Z has just released Watch the Throne with Kanye and has announced the Watch the Throne tour. Meanwhile, Beyonce has just released the album 4 and is priming the world for a tour with four intimate performances at the Roseland Ballroom.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber has just finished up his My World Tour and Selena Gomez is simply the new teen pop star on the block. She may have impressive numbers for her We Own the Night Tour for a new artist, but we all know Beyonce will be blowing those numbers away once she releases a full tour itinerary.
What makes the Jay Z and Beyonce placement so ridiculous is that these are the two top artists in their genre. Jay Z is the best rapper in hip hop and Beyonce is the Queen of American R&B, with apologies to Adele. They may not be the pop-iest couple around, but this web site is dedicated to popular culture and they way these two play it cool around the media definitely gives them that allure that reeks of popularity.
OK, so perhaps they have broken a few of their own rules of late. Jay Z has been bragging about his wife. US Magazine, as well as many others, reported that the famed chill rapper called his wife the second coming of Michael Jackson during an interview with 99 Jamz. Now, he meant as a musical innovator and as a worker and not as a celebrity going over the edge. Though, given the couples penchant for the finer things in life, perhaps it is not too difficult to imagine the power couple pushing the limits of extravagance.
Meanwhile, Beyonce has putting an end to the ridiculous claims the Game made upon the release of Watch the Throne. The Game alluded to impotence because Beyonce has maintained her amazing bikini body instead of popping out a few kids. Well, now just a few weeks later we here that Beyonce wants to have kids, but she is not ready for a kid quite yet.
In the meantime fans can look for the Throne tickets to see if Jay Z and Kanye West can co-exist on stage and Beyonce tickets for a world tour once she finally announces her intentions.
